COUNSELING
Individual Counseling
Through individual and couple counseling sessions, our licensed counselors come alongside adults in the midst of struggles. Witnessing God use brokenness and heartache to move people toward redemption and healing is one of our greatest privileges.
Group Counseling
Bringing struggles to light through the safety of confidential, counselor-facilitated groups is often an integral step toward transformation. Groups that have been offered include:
Healing Hearts - a biblically-based, confidential setting for women to receive support as they wrestle with the difficult realities of childhood harm, and gain hope and healing.
Insurance
The Barnabas Center does not accept insurance. However, we are able to provide statements for clients who wish to self-file with their insurance company. Some clients are able to use their HSA/FSA cards to pay for counseling services. It is up to each client to determine with their insurance company what options are available to them.
Payment
Prompt payment for services is expected. Invoices are generated through our Client Portal at the end of each day. We also accept payment by check - please make checks payable to The Barnabas Center - Richmond and mail to: The Barnabas Center, 7113 Three Chopt Road, Suite 210, Richmond, VA 23226.
As a non-denominational and non-profit 501(c)3 organization, The Barnabas Center employs a funding model that combines counseling fees and donations. Many of our clients and participants qualify for our scholarships for counseling and/or training. These scholarships are funded through the generosity of individuals and churches and allow people to receive help who couldn’t afford it and thus have a greater impact in our community.
Scholarships are available upon request and will be granted, as available, by considering your household’s annual gross income and any extenuating circumstances. Clients may submit a Scholarship Request Form before or after making their first appointment, but full payment will be expected at the time of the first visit, if a scholarship has not been approved. A Reply to a Scholarship Request is generally given within two business days. Questions regarding the scholarship process for Richmond should be directed to our Administrative Office or call 804-741-2333.

Church Assistance
Clients sometimes approach their church for assistance with their counseling or group fees. If your church is helping you pay for your counseling session or group fees, we need a written agreement signed by your church with their financial commitment prior to your first counseling session. Please check to see if your church is one of our donor churches before selecting the appropriate church agreement form. CLICK HERE to download the Church Scholarship Agreement Form for Richmond.
